Located in the bohemian Lark Lane in Liverpool, this cosy basement restaurant feels like a home away from home. Pistachio, with its whitewashed walls, leather sofas and arresting artworks, has a friendly and warm ambience that is conducive for long evening meals and Sunday roasts with friends and family. The Exchange Restaurant
One of the most iconic buildings in the newly remodeled Liverpool city centre, the grand Hilton Hotel is home to The Exchange, a chic restaurant with a very modern outlook. With views over Chavasse Park, The Exchange is contemporary and attractive, decorated in warm, modern tones and furnished in sleek, clean furniture. The typically British menu is given a thorough update by the restaurant’s talented kitchen with local produce – Lancashire wood pigeon, fish caught in nearby Fleetwood – the star of the show throughout the tempting selection. Refined and elegant, dishes may be thoroughly British but they’re created with a light touch and finesse more usual in French cuisine, making The Exchange one of the best places to sample modern British cookery in Liverpool.

The Side Door Bistro
This chic, colourful little bistro in Liverpool's theatreland has been attracting luvvies for a long time, and with good reason. The understated yet vibrant interior at The Side Door Bistro – with stripped rustic floorboards, whitewashed walls and bright red accents – has a Parisian ambience. The Side Door's location in theatre district makes it perfect for pre or post show meals. There are up to 12 wines at under £20, and we recommend the oregano salmon fillet with red cabbage, chorizo potato cake and spiced Moroccan butter; fried lamb with houmus and flatbread; and chef Sean Miller's famous sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and vanilla cream.
